I love it when a work refers to something in an obviously poetic turn of phrase, a metaphor rather than something literal, and then later on it comes up again but it's just Literally That.
For example: I've been watching The Kingdom, and in season 1 a spiritualist mentions "the room of swedenborg" which is based on the theories of 1800s Swedish theologian Emanuel Swedenborg as the space between the physical plane and the astral plane, or purgatory.
Anyways in season two a major character dies and is suddenly in a hallway and walks into a very sparsely decorated small room with a small chair and table, a single dim light fixture, and opposite the entrance side are two doors, one normal sized and one concerningly small. This is confirmed to literally be Swedenborg's Room. Like it's just an actual room, Black Lodge style. Love this dumbass show. Best storytelling trope. Drop your favorite examples of this in the replies if you know what I'm talking about.
