i offer a data point, and condolences.

idk if this is at all useful, or wanted, or if you already are aware of this, but this feels similar to this video about irrational manager behavior: https://youtu.be/C2zW3S5M3ro. tl;dw bosses can require making them feel useful as an unstated but critical job requirement. video is 6 minutes & uses it well.

regardless: this absolutely sucks. i'm sorry you have to deal with this. i don't think i would do anything different and i don't think there's anything reasonable about how you're being treated.

and i mean idk i don't think i offer anything actionable, just felt maybe relevant. ideally we would actually judge work based on the work done, right? but i guess only sometimes.

I had a boss treat me like that, where everything I did was wrong no matter what. Trust me when I say you need to get a new job as fast as possible, because bosses like that will find reasons to fire you (by making them up whole cloth).

Put in as little effort as possible, and spend time looking for a new place to work. Hopefully you'll get something better. Oh, and don't put the place you're at now on your resume
