people our age have been in their 40s recently, it's really weird
I don't know how that happened but I've been seeing it too, it's weird
Legit though, the fascinating thing in the last few decades is how much wider the "people my age" band gets as I get older, I'll know someone a while and just think of them just in the "fellow grown-up" age category and then some time-sensitive cultural reference point will come up and I'll realize they were a child when I was out of college
ah! yes! or we recently we were talking to some younger queer people in our life - not people we parse as our age, but definitely people whose experience of adulting is a lot like ours - and we showed them an old Tiger Electronics game and were like, what is your relationship to these objects
and they were like, oh yeah our parents had those as kids
ouch!!!!!
I've heard that it will be several years before this trend begins to decline.
Just wait, eventually it'll start becoming less true!
