Current Hyperfixation: Wizard of Oz

  • He/Him

I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.

Check tags like Star Trek Archive and Media Piracy to find things I share for others.

Yes I am spreading the Physical Media Propaganda to my family.

Both the Evil Dead 2 4K and the Invaluable blu-ray are for my younger sister, who's favorite movie - or probably just favorite thing in general - is Evil Dead 2, because she has good taste and knows pure kino when she sees it. She by extension idolizes Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell and all surrounding media. Up until now she's been binging ED2 on a really quite crummy old blu-ray that sometimes doesn't even load properly (might be starting to delaminate... ah old shit quality blu-rays) so I figure she definitely deserves the upgrade. And Invaluable is a documentary about Sam Raimi and co.'s making of the first film. Also it's a Synapse release and one can never have too many of those in your home.

Kingdom Hospital is interesting. It was a miniseries broadcast back in 2004 that was an adaptation of a miniseries Lars von Trier did in 1994. The Americanized version is notable for being almost fully penned by Stephen King, which is why his name is plastered all over the damn thing. I know next to nothing about it, but my mom has mentioned several times how sore she is about having missed the final few episodes and never getting to know how the story ended, and how it's not available anywhere to stream or even rent/buy digitally. So of course, time for imported region free blu-rays to the rescue! She'd better watch the dang thing :p
