Big night for salamanders! Last night I escorted about eighty four-toed salamanders to a wetland across the road. I mentioned previously that four-toeds have a conspicuous constriction at the base of their tails—if you guess that’s because they can shed their tails if attacked by a predator, congratulations! You’re thinking like the evolutionary pressures in place on a tiny lungless salamander.
