So for my specific area (the Champlain Basin), I'm not sure! This is the first time I've been here for the spring amphibian migration. Most of my herp observation history is from the foothills of the Rensselaer Plateau in New York--there, I would expect the first "cohort" to emerge primarily with spring peepers, wood frogs, and spotted salamanders, which I routinely see getting into situations where they need to cross snowbanks to reach their desired waterbodies.
