My first time seeing a blue-spotted salamander1 in the wild! Or in a house, for that matter. The sparkle of its skin is really pretty!

Vermont is actually squarely in the intersection of the ranges of the blue-spotted and Jefferson salamanders, which are almost impossible for a non-expert (i.e. me2) to distinguish, so it could be either.

And also i.e. them, as Jefferson × blue-spotted lineages appear basically wherever the ranges overlap (and are notably unisexual).
