The prismatic twinkling of Sirius over a 16-second exposure at 10X optical magnification. The brightest star in the night sky--and one of the closest--Sirius' quick-blinking through the spectrum is visible even to the naked eye, but slightly jostling the camera1 (or a pair of binoculars) traces out the dramatic and abrupt changes our atmosphere imposes on the star's appearance.

It reminds me of watching comb jellyfish after nightfall, thin, pale rainbow lines drawing themselves along the jellyfish's skin.

1 Or jostling the camera a lot, as I accidentally did here.
