still watching The Boys, rambling on 3x02 and 3x03 below
so far I'm enjoying Season 3 a lot more than 2. fewer blackmail plots (okay, not zero, but there's progress), more trying way too hard to shock the audience. please do, show. please splatter hypperreal ultraguts on every surface and then have sex on the surfaces and then specify that it was particularly weird sex. that's what you're good at, show. you were never meant to be a political thriller
wait is Stormfront supposed to be dead for real? off-screen, conveyed by a news report? sure, uh huh, I believe you.
(also it looked like the body in the news report had two intact legs, but I'm not sure if that's intentional)
I will not feel bad for the Deep. I simply will not do it. all this aww poor little himbo material is wasted screentime
I am also enjoying the pivot from last season's "you know, real power is having people who would do anything for you" into a somehow even more topically relevant "nope, turns out real power is when you can hurt anyone you want and no one can hurt you."
really really thought Butcher was going to accidentally eye-beam Mallory to death. they set up the scene so carefully, repeatedly establishing that Butcher can't control the beams, witnesses pointedly leaving the room, Butcher getting more and more worked up as he looks Mallory directly in the eyes at point blank range,
and then nothing happens and he walks out. brilliant. it was so set up that it would have been predictable if they'd gone through with it. but it makes sure you're paying attention during what would otherwise be a pretty dull dialogue scene.
also, I'd generally gotten used to scenes ending with whatever is the worst thing that could possibly happen
please stop saying things like "the wokesters are trying to cancel me" in fictional shows, I come here to escape
