I hope someday someone gets to make the World War Z movie we should have had. It's all there in the book! You just shoot it like a documentary, cutting between interviews with a bunch of colorful characters and found-footage zombies and you even can do that thing filmmakers love where you get to make fake in-universe advertisements and propaganda! Impossible to screw up!

Well, not impossible. You could always throw out every concept in the book except "the general idea of zombies" and cast Brad Pitt as Some Guy whose main character attribute is being some guy. I have not felt more differently about a book and its movie adaptation since American Psycho and that was the other way around.

But we reboot shit all the time now, right? There's still a chance to do this right! And after COVID there's a whole new poignance to "the world must comes together to fight a plague, but politics and selfishness are not so easily set aside," seriously this thing writes itself.

Ah well. At least the audiobook is great.

I will never stop being mildly annoyed by the breadth of easily-adaptable concepts that movie missed out on. Even the same exact movie where someone, anyone, uses a lobo - or even just makes vague references to things that happened in the book! But no!

I really think the source material is perfect for, like, a low-budget huluflix show. 20-30 minute episodes, each episode a chapter, you got the 'patient zero' episode, the 'rich asshole party' episode, the 'canadian cannibalism' episode, the 'feral child' episode, the 'k9 units' episode, the 'otaku and the gardener' episode, the 'airdrop gone wrong survival' episode, tie it up with the frame story in the first and last eps, bang boom you've got a show! If they lean hard enough into the interview format it could probably be done for very cheap! Pls Giv 🙏
