oh nooo, the part of international travel where the border patrol quizzes you on your purpose for travel and asks surprise followup questions to trip you up and is like "you seem nervous"

I swear I'm not traveling for evil purposes I'm just tired and bad at talking to strangers and being intimidated makes me even more inclined to stare at the floor and mumble

if this is the white-guy-with-American-accent-and-normie-clothing version I can't even imagine how it is for everyone else

in reply to @pervocracy's post:

"wanting to leave the Greatest Country for any reason is an inherently suspicious and probably criminal activity" is the impression I've gotten from every encounter with U.S. border guards, which to be clear is roughly 98% in the context of "driving across the Canadian border, 30 miles from where I used to live, to legally buy beer"

I had this experience with the Canadian border guards in Yukon and I was like 'you are able to force me to turn around and pay $2500 take the ferry' (and I didn't say it but also he had a gun)
