Doctor Who: The Giggle spoilers

  • lmao that the apocalypse is "everyone simultaneously gets Twitter brain"
  • wait shit I think they're calling me out?
  • it's so ungrateful when people write television episodes about how television rots your brain
  • I wonder if they hid some Stooky Bill in the video of the episode
  • how the hell is David Tennant going to say the name "Stooky Bill" without sounding Scottish. that is unfair
  • Neil Patrick Harris: ya, und ist ein wunderbar to zie du with mein own zwei eye-n, Doctor!
  • subtitles: [speaking German]
  • the marionettes are a very creepy concept with wonderfully unsettling sound effects, and... just the most dogshit 1993-ass visual effect you ever saw
  • EDIT: NEVER MIND THEY BUILT THEM FOR REAL!?!? IT'S A FULL-SCALE PRACTICAL EFFECT??? dang am I wrong
  • the toymaker is a villain with the terrifying power to rehash Steven Moffat plot points, thus attacking me in real life
  • this is such a Batman villain
  • is it my screen or is everyone orange in this color grading
  • colour
  • oh no that musical number was... well that is officially part of the Doctor Who canon now. it sure is.
  • David Tennant, pointedly: "It's not dying."
  • the doctor is so immediately completely okay with being two guys
  • even if this is kind of a cop-out to just never kill David Tennant
  • well I support that
  • I bet there's already rancid Discourse about whether it's okay to ship them
  • no but was there a problem in the special effects department? was there like some situation like a catastrophic hard drive failure a week before the project was due and they had to throw something together
  • or is it just good old Doctor Who "we're gonna ask for a little more suspension of disbelief than usual here, folks" tradition
  • oh I love the idea that Ncuti Gatwa isn't the same self as he is, he's the self he needed to be
  • oh wow David Tennant even gets his own souvenir TARDIS? and he gets to stay with his old companions forever and ever and ever as the family he never had?
  • you know what, cool. give us that happy ending. 2020s are going to be the decade of post-cringe. we're into cozy games and bright colors. it's no longer time to imply that the "and David Tennant lived happily ever after!" scenario is contrived. it's time to say yayyyy the old Doctor gets to be happy 🥲
