The rope is attached to the top of the cage so it lifts up when I lift the lid. Matthias loves this and will jump on the rope any time I look like I'm going to open the cage. He doesn't try to use it to escape or anything, he just wants to go for a ride.

most rats think being friends with Godzilla is cool but some rats want to be picked up and thrown by Godzilla (onto something soft, like a bed or a couch) so they can run back to Godzilla and do it again. this is one of many reasons why rodents are neat
