explaining to my 13-year-old self that I now have access to essentially any book in the world on a single device and can use it whenever I want, and somehow, this makes it vastly harder to ever finish any particular book

I've finally started to get to the point of not being paralyzed by choice, but it took like 15+ years of using ebooks.
...And I still get stuck creating lists of stuff to read instead of reading with some frequency.
I like how I recognize the visual reference despite never having actually watched The Twilight Zone
