Today I'm recommending REAL by Takehiko Inoue.
The mangaka needs no introduction. He's one of the best seinen mangaka of all time, boasting a phenomenal track record with some of the manga he made, such as Slam Dunk and Vagabond. This story needs little introduction, but I'll do it anyways. The story follows 3 characters, a man pursuing his basketball dream, a man disabled pursuing his basketball dream and a man who had to give up his basketball dream, but learn to come to terms with it, and pursue his basketball dream. More than anything though, this is a human drama with a basketball motif, and it's just...really good to be honest with you. It's intense, it's realistic, but watching them overcome themselves...it's cathartic.
I highly recommend this series. It's possibly one of the best manga I've ever read, and it deserves your attention.
