I have borrowed a top of the line PS3 wheel (not pictured) from a friend to test out various Brook converters for the Dreamcast and the like along with one of my JVS adaptors for my NAOMI. This is of course all part of viability testing for an arcade freeplay area at The Big Cheese 4 (http://start.gg/bigcheese4)
The friend I borrowed the wheel from also passed me an old Logitech Playstation 2 wheel and said I could keep it if I could find a use for it. Turns out I had a random cheap PS2 to PC adaptor floating around so I fell into a trance and awoke to find my first (extremely bad) Outrun 2SP clear. Given that I've never cleared Outrun 1 in any route this has me fairly happy with myself. It helps that Outrun 2 runs on the Model 2 onwards rules of "if you brake or downshift while oversteering you enter The Drift Dimension" where the rule of cool and gamefeel takes precedence over actual drifting.
I've managed to wrangle this wheel into working with Outrun 1 on the FPGA MiSter as well as the obvious Playstation 1 games with wheel support. New life has been breathed into this.
I mean besides playing Ridge Racer 2 and Auto Modelista on an actual PS2, obviously.
