I never quite got the hang of this place but I know it meant a lot to people. One of those things I am glad exists even if it is not my thing. I liked the neo-livejournal vibes and some people did some really fantastic longform posting here.

I was naively hoping it could continue indefinitely as a kind of niche social media alternative, kind of like a latter-day metafilter (which has also weathered some rocky financials). Notably, they're moving to a non-profit structure right now.

Most good things in the world are the result of a handful of people doing selfless things because they felt like doing them, outside of any financial or material incentive, just because they cared about something. This was definitely that kind of good thing.

In the past few days I've found out that:

  1. my cat Ramona has hyperthyroidism, which we found out during an expensive vet visit and will require more expensive vet visits to make sure her new meds are working correctly
  2. my insurance decided to re-deny a claim I had appealed for some tests I had done at the doctor back in October
  3. a job that I had thought seemed like a pretty sure thing is actually not happening after all

I want to be clear that the situation isn't dire, but we've had to use a whole lot of our emergency savings. So if you've ever had the thought, "huh, maybe it would be cool to support my pal Megan monetarily," now would be a great time to do so!

You can hire me as a composer, music implementer, or music producer, or recommend me for those jobs to people you know!

You can buy my music on Bandcamp!

You can subscribe to my Patreon!

Or you can just support me on Ko-Fi!

Thank you all very much 💚
