The Ones Who Riff on Omelas

composer, accordionist, electronicsist, nascent game dev, professor, parent
done with thinking about omelas, I'm gonna write short stories to refute other ursula k le guin stories. first one is called The Word for World is Compromise. those monkey people didn't need to kill all those colonizers, surely there's a nicer way they could have taken the High Road
The Trowel of Paradise, where a guy has the power to make his thoughts reality and it turns out he's just a super nice guy and he makes things really good for everyone
Somebody once told me about a joyous city
With bright towers by the blue sea
It had gardens and parades and can you believe it
All the people living there were happy
Well, the fun starts coming and it don’t stop coming
Music, and drooz, and people sunning
Got no religion or army here
Only public parks and bells ringing clear
So much to do, so much to see
So why is it you can’t believe me?
You’ll never do if you don’t know
Why the ones who walk away go
Hey now, it’s Omelas
They got a child in a cellar - suffering!
So I’m talking ‘bout a place, a place called
OMELAS
Number-one burg to hang out with my
FELLAS
Got it so good here it makes ya’ll
JEALOUS
Yeah we know ‘bout the kid, you don’t have to
