I've officially engaged every boss in SotE and while I acknowledge recency bias as a factor, I think that after 10 years this DLC has finally dethroned Dark Souls 2 as my favorite FromSoft Souls game.
Tbh base game Elden Ring was probably in my bottom 3 (I've grown very fond of it, but still just preferred the others) but everything happening in conversation with the DLC as well as just, everything about it as a whole from game design to art direction, to music etc just really sets it apart.
I'll probably reevaluate again at some point, but IDK it just really rocks
As silly as it reads, I do like them using the old English for 'shadow' for 'scadutree,' despite the modern spelling appearing a number of times throughout the game, including the title of the DLC.
Really gives a quick and subtle implication on how old this thing has to be.
