uncertain about this being a good thing, more so if the play store and the apple app store will be the targeted distribution platforms

there's already external pressure on vrchat in the form of meta with the quest headsets, but at least as far as i can recall off the top of my head they haven't had the luxury of being as overbearing and prudish as apple or alphabet

ios support in particular makes me leery of the future for the platform, given apple's track record (see also: tumblr)

in reply to @pinball's post:

Apple is genuinely one of the single greatest threats to Queer and Adult spaces online, them or Mastercard being involved in anything makes me so scared for the future of whatever it is...

VRC having had a kinda don't ask don't tell approach to NSFW content for ages I could see changing very quickly to keep the megacorp prudes happy ;w;

a lot of people comment that vrchat today feels like the early internet, which is a wonderful and fun thing, but it's also a parallel that depressingly points to the internet now as its future...

the very least i can do is just refuse to make ios versions of content to upload if it comes to it, but that assumes that there's another platform to need to built for if they don't just take the already existing mobile/android set of assets

I'm really worried for the future of VRChat as a platform, but if they kill adult content on its platform I feel it'd have Tumblr-level consequences for it...

Hopefully, this is all just fear-mongering, but it's hard not to have learnt from history. Especially when it comes to the commercialisation of adult spaces and how tech corporations see "the metaverse" basically building the next Dot-Com bubble
