My sibling works as a doctor here in Canada and and has talked to me before about what is going on. To put it in bluntly and simply: the federal and provincial governments are intentionally sabotaging public healthcare to pave the way for a private system. This is very apparent in some provinces, like Alberta, where the premier has outright admitted that this is their goal, but it's happening in a much more underhanded way in other provinces. For example - a hospital my sibling worked at was instructed, by the provincial health authority, to underhire staff and overwork the existing staff. Naturally, the work environment is catastrophically toxic and unhealthy for the staff and they're quitting in droves, including my sibling.
