I figured out that you can do a little D3D11 switcheroo and have GameMaker draw wherever you want, even to a different window!

Having multiple windows per game isn't exactly common functionality in game engines
(Godot has it, and that's it, I think?) and is used even less rarely in actual games (see: Windowkill), but I think it's a fun thing to mess with.
