I don't know whether my favorite thing about modern television remotes is the way the constant removal of buttons infantilizes me like it's trying to get me to use a Fisher Price My First Teevee, or the way half of those buttons are outright advertisements for rent-seeking streaming companies

I love how they have fewer buttons but the IR transmitter has been replaced with a radio that uses 10x more energy, and the AAA cells have been replaced with a fucking potato ass dinky little lithium piece of shit, so you are constantly having to charge them from a goddamn usb cable
The remote will make a fun conversation piece once all the streaming companies printed on it are dead.
My favorite thing is when I'm watching a show or movie with my wife and one of us reaches for the remote to adjust the volume and accidentally presses the button that closes the app we were using and switches to a different app that freezes the whole device while it loads, just to show a login screen for a service we don't have.
