@pinkbun asked:

Hey Shining Ranger Azure, what were you all doing on Venus? How did you end up there? It seems like a pretty big step for a local magical girl team
Also how come you left Obsidian there like come on, so not cool

"Okay, first of all-"

She's agitated, this is not the first time she's had to answer this question.

"Nobody left anybody on Venus. She went missing, we thought she was dead, were we just meant to stay up there looking? It's easy to say we should have in hindsight, obviously if we could do it again we'd track her down, but at the time? For all we knew there was nothing to find."

She takes a deep breath, takes out a cigarette and then puts it back in her pocket.

"Anyway, to answer your question, the Venusian legion had been escalating their attacks, so we took the fight to them. And you'll notice, the city no longer gets attacked by aliens. I'd like to see the Musical Guardians get results like that."

I really like this little bit I added to the Bossgame credits - I hope people who enjoy the game might be inspired to check out some of the other things on the list! Some of them are obviously very well-known, while others are a little more niche.

When I was a kid, in the liner notes of Rise Against's "The Sufferer and The Witness", they listed other media that inspired the album - at least, I believe it was the Sufferer and The Witness, but it could have been Siren Song of the Counter-Culture. I lost the jewel cases ages ago, I think my sister stole them. Anyway.

This list included Bad Religion (another favorite of mine already) and Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals", which I checked out from the library and read the next day in the bath, and all of this probably contributed to my growing love of punk rock, as well as my growing distrust of established Americana narratives.

ALL THIS IS TO SAY, I think openly listing your inspirations can be pretty cool! Maybe you nudge someone to check out something else that you love.

i'm trying to keep track of various major inspirations for Library Game so far, and it is... already quite a big and weird list
