judging by its demo, the new outcast may have killed the most memorable aspect of the first game: its incredible sense of place
nothing in it felt like i was engaging with a world. your new backpack lets you zip around areas at record speed. it has a jetpack letting you reach high places in a snap. and every cool landmark seems to have some kind of "challenge" tied to it (and you bet the map has a huge marker for tracking it!), like following a green light through a jumping puzzle.
worst yet, you can no longer as villagers about where to find places. instead you get the quest marker. unforgivable
