Pathfinder you say? Working on getting my own campaign rolling!
oh good luck!! I hope it's fun! <3 <3 I fucking ADORE 2e's system, it's a lot more reminiscent of older d&d with the nuance and complexity while still leaving a lot open for creativity!! also the action point system is just really cool tbh
I'm just so tired of getting lost in the murky, messy unresolved conflicts of 5e's systems and minutiae, and jabbed on its sharp edges. Wizards is certainly also endearing themselves to nobody.
I've really super enjoyed the three-action system when running combat, instead of every player's turn including an "are you done?" That back and forth and uncertainty creates so much wasted time during a part of the game that should be clipping along.
Also, 5e won't let me play a werewolf unless I'm using homebrew, and none of it is good. Huff.
5e is a good introduction to tabletop, and I have a certain level of respect for that-- it's a barebones system intended to be easy to digest and then expanded upon, which is fine! but people forget about that last bit a lot, and trying to take every little bit of UA they've added and all the little rules they've tried to add piecemeal is fucking infuriating. it's a skeleton meant for (and fine for) homebrew, not something indepth in-and-of itself, and certainly not something fit for wizards to keep fucking frankensteining additional rules and Um, Actually's onto. also fuck wizards! <3 going through the list of changes they required of pathfinder is actually infuriating. they were required to change the name 'half-elf'?? HALF-ELF??? screaming.
the pathfinder races are SO fucking cool though I love them so much, the anadi have my entire heart and more
