By far the biggest change this month is I switched over to my own pixel graphics. There is a scene in Black Books where Bernard grabs an accordian to serenade a lady, saying "I can't play guitar, I can't play this either but I thought it'd be less obvious." That's kind of how I feel zooming in on my purposely tiny canvas. But I think I'm getting better at this and won't feel bad shipping it at all. I would like to try different styles like inflating the head, a bit more chibbis (or chybis depending on which part of the country you're from), but...!

東京ゲームダンジョン
I applied for Tokyo Game Dungeon 4 and I'll be there with my wife for all of Sunday! As I'm only a few months into learning Japanese I'll be trying my best... but realistically operating in more of a booth babe capacity. The first bullet point suggesting why to submit to Tokyo Game Dungeon is "to give yourself a deadline." And that's what it has done! It's given me two important dates.

November 21st
I need to actually name the game, give it a description, and make a 500x500 key art. There are also two optional goals to produce promotional videos, which I should try and meet. This will involve implying a lot more polish and content than I have, and has produced a scary list of things to do, but none of this is wasteful so it is a positive push. And tbh, outside of having no idea how to do audio, it's not too bad.

January 21st
The big day! I need to make a version of the game that can be played by the public for ~10 minutes. It needs to have most of the systems and they need to be relatively robust. And it needs to be in two languages. Well, one language really, but that language is Japanese.

Steam
Also, one side effect of the November deadline content is I will produce all the elements I need for a Steam store page, providing my key art can be chopped to fit the various images Steam requires. However, I won't be able to enter the Steam Next Fest in February as sign ups for that have already finished.
