hsuahsau, same!! being able to place only meshes with collision is too limiting, and it becomes even harder to use if you're making something big with it(like a big map) x_x.
And im not sure if you can change the meshlibrary you're using with it well, if you remove one mesh from there some of your gridmaps will have invisible tiles, or wrong tiles in places because of the changed indexes of stuff =(

Yeahhhh it's really finicky, I've changed out meshlibraries before and had to be really careful about the indexes or have to just freaking wipe the map I was working on! Also just the process of saving and import meshlibraries is more annoying than it feels like it should be.
I've seen a lot of users wanting gridmap to be removed altogether but I just wanted it overhauled! Lots of folks make grid-based 3D levels, I'd love if it got the care that the 2D tilemap node gets x(

In a way i'm happy i'm not the only one who had this problem with the indexes but in another way sorry for you map losses suahusa x_x. and ye the way to save the libraries are really weird.
This is one of those moments i wish i was better at coding so i could contribute decently somehow or at least make a good addon suahusha.
It feels like it's almost a good feature it just needs some polishing and qol maybe xP
