In The Elder Scrolls VI, we will allow the player character to escape from law enforcement by hiding inside of any building and presenting them a dialogue option where you can yell "There's skooma on the door handle!". This will prevent guards from pursuing you for a time and depending on timing can knock one or two guards out.
