the Embankment Arch pipe is a sculpture on the bank of the river in Vilnius. It was constructed sometime around 2009 and for some reason is still here. Every year we visit lithuania i end up visiting and taking a photo of it over again as this pipe lives rent free in my head.

This thing is in a constant contest between people graffitiing the thing, and efforts to keep it clean of the grafitti - i don't actually know it they just take a power washer to it or if they actually give it some fresh paint. This thing supposedly cost the city three hundred thousand euro. While i am no art expert, i feel it lacks the "fuck you" necessary to be dadaist art, not to mention the ongoing efforts to clean the thing kind of give off the vibe that it's supposed to "mean something". The pipe itself is not as interesting to look at as some of the wear and tear on older buildings, as the peeling of paint and layers create a more interesting visual result. Apparently it's supposed to direct us to look at what we choose to ignore in our lives, but that idea might gave been better served by having a thing that cuts into the ground as opposed to jutting out, not to mention how boring and "it sure is a pipe" it looks. I kicked the pipe. I should not have kicked the pipe, and should probably try to hydrate more.

why is this pipe. fuck this pipe.
