“tesla sold more new cars than BMW in 2022”: relatively unsurprising, they remain the easiest EV to purchase, have big Brand Recognition there, and have done a decent job ramping production
“tesla is a luxury automaker”: this is where i draw the line. have you ever been in a tesla? they are not nice cars. at all. they have cheap feeling interiors, poor build quality, bizarrely noisy ride despite being fucking electric cars, etc. my 2021 mazda 6 is more comfortable and Nicer feeling than the top trim model S i was in 5 years ago, and that was BEFORE they added all the stupid touch screen bullshit. can’t imagine how much worse it all is now.
The term "screaming metal deathtrap" always meant old junker cars you bought for 400 dollars but honestly I think it should be used for luxury cars, because they're very loud, they scream to everyone "LOOK I HAVE A SMALL PENIS" and then they're a deathtrap because some billionaire wanted all the safety features removed cause it'd make the car look cooler.
Fuck Teslas.
