I'm finally taking the plunge and installing EndeavourOS on my laptop and getting Manjaro the fuck off it. I've used Manjaro for about 5 years now, and while it started off great, eventually the devs just started to suck real bad—their software is bad, they can't maintain their SSL certificates, and honestly their whole thing where they'd hold packages back was awful. I'm glad to he done with that OS.
Ok, so it turns out that I couldn't just copy and paste my config files from Manjaro and have them work on my new install. Maybe it's something to dowith my new username?
So the config files were actually in a totally different location from what I expected. Back on Manjaro, i3's config files were kept in ~/.i3, but on EndeavourOS they're in ~/.config/i3—which is far more sensible—and they also come with a load of really nice scripts, so now I'm doing the laborious task of getting EndeavourOS to keep the parts of my old Manjaro config while keeping all the stuff from the new config I really like.
Honestly I was missing out on a lot of stuff, like a fancy 3-column rofi launcher with icons and shit.
The main thing now is getting a good polybar setup, which shouldn't be too hard, and getting the FlatColor GTK theme to actually fucking work with WPGTK. (Maybe it won't update because I installed it from the AUR?)
Also, there was a casualty in the move from Manjaro to Endeavour, I lost my .local/share/fonts directory, and all the cool fonts I had are all gone, and I have to find them again—this is worse than a child's father dying in a war, because my fonts at least died for something.
