I've been meaning to play the game ever since its release but I've only now been able to get to it. It truly didn't disappoint though. It was a great ride from start to finish and is the definition of "short but sweet"
As someone looking for more short games to play, it fills a great part of that while also kicking off the stellar line up of games this year off hard. As bad as I am at the game and action games in general, I wanna go back and get better. The rhythm genre works so well with spectacle fighters and Hi-Fi RUSH nailed the first foray into the two of them combined
I'd highly recommend it to anyone even remotely interested in it. The game has multiple difficulties and good tutorials to ease almost anyone in. Check it out if you haven't already!
I'm also gonna be writing more elaborate thoughts on it soon. There's a lot of good to talk about
Yeah I liked Hi-Fi Rush quite a bit, though I regret playing it on hard mode the first time, though.
Ironically, I didn't like the licensed soundtrack that much—though I definitely soyfaced when Number Girl came on—and thought it was just a bit mediocre. It felt to me like kinda middle of the road pop rock—could've been better, could've been worse. The music definitely gelled really well with the combat, so I can't complain too much.
The story was kinda meh. I didn't give a shit about it at all. I did like the comedy, because it was always funny watching Chai get slapped around, or hearing robots despair about how terrible their lives are—it's all slapstick shit, and I'm a sucker for that. I really enjoyed most of the game's characters,1 and thought they were all pretty enjoyable—though I'm shit with names and the only characters I know by name are Chai and Corsica.
Also Corsica and that one girl (Peppermint, I think?) are a cute couple.

The main villain had his moments, but overall I thought he was really meh.
