Why are people so creeped out by Geogaddi? Like, you look at the youtube comments for any of the songs on that album, and a ton of people are like "oh this is so creepy and sinister."

What?

Maybe I'm just too old—which is weird, because I'm in my early 20s—or my brain is ginormous or some shit, but how is anything by boards of canada that creepy? To me it feels like all the creeped out people are used to scare music in reality TV or nature documentaries, where music necessarily communicates an emotion all the time. Idk. I remember finding all those "liminal space" pictures back from 2020 really comforting, so maybe I'm just weird.

i remember it being creepy when i first listened to it when i was 8, as with Selected Ambient Works Vol. II, but i dont think even BoC fully intended their work to just be ooOOOoo creepypasta stuff. its just a surreal psychadelic nostalgia that a lot of bands havent captured in a way that appeals to me. or maybe i just grew used to it who knows
