This has occurred once previously, in 2017, also in Hong Kong, at an event sponsored by Hypebeast.

I take solace in the fact that this can only happen at an event where the attendees think that "fluorescent objects glowing under blue light" is the coolest thing they've ever seen.

All I've been thinking since I was first made aware of this news is "Blind Ape Yacht Club" and I hate myself for thinking it because even if they're idiots who bought into monkey JPEGs they don't deserve to have idiot conventions that are so mismanaged they're actively harmful to their health.

this has happened once before, at a "Hypebeast" event also in Hong Kong. I believe it happened because whoever was designing the event space wanted blacklights that also emit a "cool" blue light in addition to UV (in the sense of bored ape guys thinking "fuck this looks so cool")
