I don't wanna be a gatekeeping asshole or anything but most of the people that say they like "breakcore" like jungle and dnb, not breakcore—if they listened to Venetian Snares or something like that, their heads would explode like they're in Scanners. There's nothing wrong with being into jungle or dnb—I love 'em—but you need to know words have meaning. It was pretty easy to find good breakcore mixes a few years ago, but ever since people on tiktok discovered the Peshay studio set it's annoying now—hell, I heard house music on a "breakcore" mix one time.

On one hand it's stupid I'm this up in arms about all this—words naturally change meaning over time—on the other it feels like people are ignoring about 30 years worth of musical history. Maybe I'm just having my annoying internet music fan moment, maybe I'm just annoying. I don't know. I do know that in a decade we might see a sad retrospective on the whole thing, like the one Timbah.On.Toast did about dubstep.
