man. very depressing how active literal gamergate-type elements still are. I know they never went away but this level of organization.. whoof. I'm glad it's being discussed openly because this sort of thing needs active fighting back against.
The two platforms this new wave of the same old shit oozed out of were, unsurprisingly, YouTube and Steam. Two highly mainstream platforms who did and said nothing back in 2014 because, in the former's case, it was/is good for engagement, and in the latter's case the masses of chuds were/are Paying Customers, and Steam is still happy to take their chud money and let them say and do their chud shit on the platform, and every time there's a mass shooting or w/e a profile is quietly deleted and nothing else changes.
So yeah this is gonna keep happening because the entities that control our quasi-public spaces are above it all and happy to keep counting the money rolling in and a few people getting harassed by a mob effectively isn't real to them.
