Just saw that the UK is doing an emergency notification test that involves buzzing literally every phone in the country.
Are such alerts actually useful? Like any situation I can imagine that such an alert, something that bypasses existing notification settings, is either too easily abused (like here in the US) or frankly is something I'd rather not know even if it's about to directly affect me. Mostly pertaining to "We want every single cell phone in the ENTIRE COUNTRY to make a loud noise" part, small regional things can make more sense but... again, abused here in the US.
I left all of this very vague as I'm not sure exactly how I'd otherwise CW but I imagine various things will be in the comments if anyone comments.
