I definitely have a really bad habit of just kinda... leaving a DM hanging and forgetting to actively check up on folk, but I don't want people to assume that's a thing done out of malice, or a lack of interest in them or something, I'm just the wonderful combination of "bad at leading and carrying on conversations" and "a forgetful creature".
But I fully empathise with how you feel here, it's hard not to think "perhaps this person finds me boring" or "perhaps they're not worth spending time and emotional effort on" when a person seems to take disinterest in you and what you have to say. Such a thing is... a lot more obvious in-person due to body language and such, but the rules of engagement for a purely text-based medium are different and I think people, particularly people who grew up in a pre-ubiquitous-internet era like ourselves have difficulties adjusting to it.
At least at the time of posting, none of the people that I think of when I vent about these things are on cohost. If I wanna call people out I like to do it directly, to them, so they can do better lol.
But I get that. I'm horrible when people message me when I'm sleep and I see messages when I wake up, I'll see them and completely forget because I don't want to respond while I'm half asleep.
But yeah, online communication is hard. There's just a few, extra egregious cases that really tick me off sometimes.
I do that all the time because my mind is super absent, it can happen in mid conversation and then my brain tricks me into thinking I already answered when I nevr had. It happens so often lol.
