QTGMC seems more to be a bundle of a very good deinterlacer plus a bunch of other filters and post-processing one would likely want to do to a Standard Definition source anyways.
I've had some very nice results with it, but I've also had perfectly acceptable results with YADIF, it's just that you normally have to tack on some other filters when using YADIF to achieve similar levels of quality.
