The real answer was that they needed to take everything bad and awful about phone games and roll that into their normal games, to squeeze more money out of their existing markets. And also buy mobile game publishers because they've got the cash for it.

as someone who's a big supporter of games as an art form, mobile games get me really sad... once That One Company started using "our game does actually exist!" as an actual advertising angle i hated it lol
