I occasionally write long posts but you should assume I'm talking out of my ass until proved otherwise. I do like writing shit sometimes.

50/50 chance of suit pictures end up here or on the Art Directory account. Good luck.

Be 18+ or be gone you kids act fuckin' weird.

The Dell U2711b (Ultrasharp 27 inch 2011 model year monitor) I picked up from thrifting is very interesting. It's a shame the CCFLs are going out and the color is completely out of whack (very yellow) because it's super nice.

The most amazing thing about it, are the menu buttons. It has four buttons on the side, and they're touch sensitive. This is cool, but the problem is how do you find the button without being able to feel it? There's a physical nub but obviously if you touch it directly, it presses the button. So, you put an LED behind it. But then you don't want to have the LED on all the time, only when the menus are open. So how do you show where to press without the light?

You put a fucking hall effect sensor, or something of the sort, inside so when you put your hand near (~6 inches) that side of the monitor, it lights up the menu button. It's fucking amazing. I think it checks for changes in distance so any stationary object won't trigger the light. I'm upset that, to my knowledge, a modern Dell Ultrasharp won't have this. A wonderful and functional party trick.

It also kicks out an insane amount of heat, it uses more power than a whole laptop on it's own. It's for sure a decade+ old computer device! It's living life currently as a "mobile" testing monitor but it'll need to go away at some point. A huge shame.
