I'm assuming at this point it's just a big shared memory that this site was somehow useful at some point that people aren't forgetting as microsoft attempts to pivot it into facebook 2.

My partner got a job via LinkedIn, He didn't even have to do anything, they contacted him (they also contacted others from the same class) but he got the job and he likes it there.
I previous colleague also got a job through LinkedIn so i guess it works in some cases.
I've gotten jobs through there, but I absolutely feel what you mean. Whenever I visit that site the phrase 'This is not a place of honor' echoes in my head and there is this background radiation of ickiness always subtly present.
