I haven't been able to keep up on releases from them for some time now, unfortunately. But still lots of really good stuff. Also they became their own Redeye at some point so there's a ton of other shit there too.

On the flip side it looks like they, as with many, started using ML tools for cover art so I'm glad I stopped buying records before that started happening lol

I love their music but I refuse to have a single ML assisted album cover in my library. I'll take early "oh shit we have photo editing tools" looking stuff over it any day.

Actually no, hang on, I'm going to make a post about hardcore album covers.

All of the "The Remixes" releases use this exact same layout. It's a bit goofy but I love it honestly. The actual label prints are lovely though, zero complaints.

It still boggles me that apparently so many musicians are turning to ML for covers, did they just stop caring? I thought that kind of thing was supposed to be important!

I feel like I cared more when I put together a CD case for a "soundtrack for your life" high school class assignment back in 2002 where I used a MSPaint drawing I made for the front and used my Cool 3D City Bryce image for the back.

So like I think I kind of get it, because if you're not a real computer dork it's easy to say that how ML works is similar to what say, sampling, did. It's hard to elaborate to a non techie how "oh well some tech bro scraped a ton of data they shouldn't really have and turned it into a computer thing that eats a ton of power to crank out really samesy looking images" in a way that conveys the importance and difference between that and "taking the time and effort to find a thing to then heavily borrow from for your own work".

I just made some other posts with "bad hardcore cover art" examples but like, I fucking LOVE the shit that looks like someone fired up mspaint or bryce 3d.

Yeah, I can see that, as unfortunate as it is.

I still have the CD and case I made, I should unbury it and take some pictures. Although I just used pictures I had already made, instead of making stuff specifically for the CD. But now I'm thinking like, I should try figuring out how to make music again, or mixes, and then I can make my own album covers, that would be fun.
