"Hey I wonder what's been going on over at Kniteforce lately?"
listen to a few releases
"Damn still really good."
I haven't been able to keep up on releases from them for some time now, unfortunately. But still lots of really good stuff. Also they became their own Redeye at some point so there's a ton of other shit there too.
On the flip side it looks like they, as with many, started using ML tools for cover art so I'm glad I stopped buying records before that started happening lol
I love their music but I refuse to have a single ML assisted album cover in my library. I'll take early "oh shit we have photo editing tools" looking stuff over it any day.
Actually no, hang on, I'm going to make a post about hardcore album covers.
All of the "The Remixes" releases use this exact same layout. It's a bit goofy but I love it honestly. The actual label prints are lovely though, zero complaints.
ok so I know it's KF again but the knitebreed sublabel is fun if we're talking about hardcore graphic design because while they've been following a close formula for the past, however many years now, the font and text warping keep changing so it's never the same.
Hardly care though, the music is always super good and just having a common style is real nice.
Some other classics
Toy Town - Again, I really quite like the look of "someone sat down in a photo editor and cranked it out". It's full of love.
Eye Opener - I don't get why anyone doesn't like 90s 3D CGI. I wonder how that one was made honestly. Did someone know a guy with an SGI?
Get Ready, Mothafuckas! - I'll be honest I don't remember what this sounds like but I about died when I pulled it out of the pile.
Next Generation House Sleeve - Again, why would anyone dislike old CGI?
Basically all of this can be called "amateur" or "kitsch" or whatever but I love this kinda stuff. And this is just the stuff that one might actually call "bad", there's lots of actually good shit too. It makes me kinda sad that this kinda... lower brow? tier of art is getting replaced with "I told a computer some words and it spat a thing out at me".
