I occasionally write long posts but you should assume I'm talking out of my ass until proved otherwise. I do like writing shit sometimes.

50/50 chance of suit pictures end up here or on the Art Directory account. Good luck.

Be 18+ or be gone you kids act fuckin' weird.

I tag all of my posts complaining about stuff #complaining, feel free to muffle that if you'd like a more positive cohost experience.

WE'VE GOT TNT SPORT WE'VE GOT SYLVAN ON PUNDIT DUTY!

I don't like the font TNT is using, this kinda "techbro serif" look.

But I can't read anyway so who cares

Really hope the concessions make an impact, though they really need to just get rid of these damn wings!!!!

Important Info Time

A quick aside, I don't think there's any way someone is reading this if they're not already into MotoGP, but if you're not I need you to understand something. Right now MotoGP is in a period where the competitiveness from manufacturer to manufacturer is not great. Ducati and KTM are regularly capable of race wins, moreso Ducati, and literally everyone else has to be having a very good weekend to have a shout. That's Aprillia, Honda, and Yamaha (in that order). That being said, there's three very important things about how all of this works that you need to understand, especially if you're coming from F1 knowledge.

First, we have customer bikes. There's like 8 Ducatis on the grid and they're close enough in spec that they're all capable of wins, if the rider can do it. Everyone except for Yamaha has at least one "satellite" or "customer" team. So instead of "Only KTM and Ducati can regularly win races" meaning 4 bikes can win, it means that 12 can win. Maybe more if there's a really hot foot wildcard1 in that weekend.

Second, is that the rider really can make a difference. Just about anyone can at least fight for a podium if they're REALLY on a tear. Yamaha had their worst year in two decades last year and was arguably the worst bike on the grid. They still scored 3 podiums with 2021 world champion Fabio Quatararo.

Third is that, despite my moaning about how much worse things are now because of the aero and the ride height devices overloading the front tires which can't be developed because of limited testing, you can still race these things. Bikes still have way less reliance on aero than any racecar and they're also a LOT more narrow, with way longer braking zones. All of this means racing and passing is way more possible. And if MotoGP doesn't have enough of that for you Moto2 and Moto3 do.

unpause

"This track here with a lot of dust, a lot of sand from the desert" maybe stop racing in these stupid desert places like Qatar and Austin!!!!

Seeing the US-flag-esque livery with a... let me double check this... Italian Cheese Company logo under it, sure is a thing. Maybe I do like that bike.

I like Taka's helmet a lot.

camera cuts to Johan Mir sitting in the pits

I do not like Mir's helmet much.

I like Rinz' helmet a bunch though!

Raúl Fernández has my favorite helmet so far. I might find a picture of that.

image search

I can not find a good picture of his helmet. There's a lot of pictures of his old helmets which are not good at all.

TNT commentary saying everyone in the paddock hates the VR46 livery as well. Good. I don't hate it because it's trying too hard to be hated.

I hope over the next decade we'll finally see "Vale Yellow" fade out of the paddock aside from his bikes. It's grown old on me, and he had the pull to make sure it didn't look ugly on the rest of the bike when he ran it.

Can you tell I'm a Vale hater? Sorry.

They're talking about if it's better to spend money on engineers than riders now. Really hope the regs get smacked so that's not the case anymore. I'm gonna keep saying this over and over because it's really the f1ication of motorcycle racing and it's big poopy stinky yuck.

Raul's helmet.

"Quite a spikey character"

Raul the hedgehog! Raul the hedgehog!

I feel like this is the first time I've properly seen Zarco so far. And only because he's sucked up on Raul.

Sorry I'm not going to find the tick on the U every time.

Q1 ends, seeking directly to the beginning of Q2

Oh, another note for you F1 folk. We have Q1 and Q2. Like a dozen bikes in Q1, the top two get into Q2, joining another 10 bikes that were top from practice. About 15 minutes each. Anyway, Q2 is on now.

The factory Aprilia is for sure up there for best looking bike now. It's not amazing but it's not trying too hard and I love the little italian flag touches.

I'd like to roast everyone talking about if Acosta can beat Marc's "youngest race winner" record, which he has 9 races to do, but honestly I don't think that's too unreasonable.

Enea didn't make it into Q1 being 3 seconds off the pace, right?

Oh there he goes.

They're talking about rider weights again. There's still no minimum weight in MotoGP; if you weigh 5kg less your bike with rider weighs 5kg less. If this should be scrapped or not has been being discussed for many years, especially when Dani Pedrosa was riding (he's like 5'2" and not very wide), but there's still no rule about it.

FUCK YOU PECCO 🎉🎉🎉

Oh the red paint is ok but the green paint invalidates your time? Weird.

Oh my fucking god Marc is not going to get pole.

Darn. Well expected but darn.

I don't know how they do the "you hear the audio of someone crashing while the cameras are looking at something completely different" thing but it's neat.

Well that's quali over, I guess there's a sprint race to watch now too?

It's not as much the bike being leaned as the rider hanging off the side. This isn't a show off move or anything, this is just how he rides normally. They all lean real crazy now. Fun stuff.

"Marc is an older rider" oof oof oof oof oof oof owwie

ok Quali actually over now. New post for the sprint.

1: A wildcard is literally a handful of races a year (6 for most teams, 3 for Ducati) where you can just, bring an extra rider to the race. Literally a whole third bike in a team, or your test team or whatever. An entire new entry. They race for full points like everyone else. Sometimes they just bring the test rider and use it as a big test session, sometimes your test rider is Dani Fucking Pedrosa and he almost gets a podium despite having retired years ago because he's Dani Fucking Pedrosa. It's not quite as exciting as the days when you'd show up in Japan and there'd be a dozen wildcard japanese riders for that weekend and they'd be fighting for podiums and wins despite having never rode a MotoGP (or specifically a Grand Prix back then, since that was still in the 500cc era) bike before, but still the occasional spicy ride.
