I don't have the interest level to do the post justice, but someone should do a nice overview for the perhaps younger folk here of why Microsoft has a very well documented history of doing Really Shitty Things and why they should never ever be given the benefit of the doubt.
And should be avoided at all costs, or at least minimized by any means necessary.
I know "micro$haft!!!" is a really worn out, basic take, but you must understand they earned that reputation with decades of hard work. A lot of hard work that is now documented in court records, under oath, and lots of other stuff that isn't too.
