I occasionally write long posts but you should assume I'm talking out of my ass until proved otherwise. I do like writing shit sometimes.

50/50 chance of suit pictures end up here or on the Art Directory account. Good luck.

i try not to think about how much stuff is put on the internet solely to get you to see some advertisements. maybe 50? 60%? of youtube at this point is content slop made purely to get ad revenue. everything is ads. it makes me miserable and i can't wait for the collapse of the ad industry

Let's say that video, disproportionately the largest user of network bandwidth by far, is only a portion of all of this. What kind of environmental impact would even a 20% reduction of internet bandwidth usage mean? It would be huge. If you consider how much youtube and tiktok slop exists purely to push Product, 20% is probably conservative.

Then on top of that, consider that people selling and running servers for made up electricity sinks like "AI" need power so bad that they're considering their options to generate power on site instead of trying to get it from the grid. Imagine if that bubble completely popped too.

And, and and and, what if crypto mining was just flat out made illegal. It should be, because it's a damn waste of electricity. "but decentralized payments" yeah sure great, get me something better than ACH that doesn't consume stupefying amounts of electricity just for me to go buy flower. Imagine all of that electricity usage just Fucking Gone.

All of those fossil fuels burned to do all of that bullshit, totally not required. That much less crap dumped into the atmosphere. That much less for future generations to deal with and, frankly, most of us in the coming decades.

But, y'know, that doesn't put ferraris in garages so we can't have that. Nope.
