I occasionally write long posts but you should assume I'm talking out of my ass until proved otherwise. I do like writing shit sometimes.

50/50 chance of suit pictures end up here or on the Art Directory account. Good luck.

Be 18+ or be gone you kids act fuckin' weird.

I want more fares for less distance and longer time bonus and nicer customers and I'm not kidding

shoutouts to this guy near the fried chicken shack KFC®™ in CT1 arcade who can go to three possible destinations, one of which is about 50 metres / 55 yards to the KFC that he is within sight of! this is (probably) the shortest fare in the game, if not the entire franchise, who pays one of if not the lowest starting fare of $36.05 and under arcade rules never gives enough extra time to make taking him to the KFC not a time deficit.

at least he'll always be nice because it's very hard to not get a speedy rating?

I'm now very curious what exact settings in the dreamcast version are equal difficulty to the default arcade settings.

I'm sure someone else has found this out.

in reply to @HerzogZwei's post:

Short trips like that gain time in the DC version, but that's on default difficulty. DC doesn't have "arcade" difficulty, just a slider for time and traffic difficulty. It's not clear how that maps to default arcade settings.

oh, i also play pretty much exclusively on the DC version (except for the screenshot above being the mobile version out of convenience, which has bad controller implementation, halved scores for license classes, and REALLY bad audio mixing imo)

i always thought that any time benefit would be canceled out later by worsening the eventual drought of fares from an area like tower records / KFC that has a lot of people that want to go there, but not a lot of people that want to leave, so it would make you have to drive passengerless to the church or backwards to the levis store sooner? i also play on the default DC settings so idk if the maximum time allowance settings i see people on youtube upload videos under would change this theory

Yeah probably try and double back and find someone going to the helipad. It's not a great area to be in, but you can at least gain a bit of time on the trip. I think I actually gained like 5+, I got a LOT of time because the trip was so short.

Kinda reminds me of the downtown square where you've got all of those rapid fire pickups around the trees that you can get time on if you start and stop fast enough, except with downtown there's some juicy long distance trips nearby too.

No idea what people on YT do, I've also always just played stock settings.

those fares under the trees always get me, i feel like they never spawn in a way where there's only one green fare i can pick out that goes to the look-out tower instead of backwards to the baseball stadium, and i always want to guess and i always pick wrong lmao

i've been thinking a lot in general about how CT1's circular map is the only map that has the whole "the wrong pick can send you backwards" punishment because all 4 (ish) other maps are much more open

Backwards isn't necessarily a bad thing, you just really gotta learn the routes and where the good pickups are, plus where common hops from one area to another are. I want to say there's only two possible fares for any given pickup spot?

I never got it down THAT well but I got 30 something K once IIRC. I had a headache afterwords.

But imo just trying to loop the map is for sure not the best way to go. You will sometimes want to go around the map, but there's not some magic route that keeps you going around and around.

It is very satisfying, however...

i know there's at least a few fares that has three possible destinations, although i think the global average trends towards 1 or 2

also yeah it was extremely satisfying on my $68k personal best run on this map to be on like, lap 8 or so lol

also also i get wrist pains after doing boosts for 2+ hours on a single run, i love crazy taxi but it is not worth getting an RSI over

Yeah I'm not willing to put my body through a 50k+ run lol

It's fun but the game is REALLY demanding mentally and physically.

What controller do you use? 360 with an adapter is way more comfy....

for 1 and 2, a stock dreamcast controller, for 3 i've played on OG xbox using a duke but it is soooo much better to play the PC port with an xinput fix'd xboner controller

i probably should look into getting an adapter because slamming the DC triggers down puts way too much force on my knuckle
