Hello I have not forgotten about this. TL;DR click the links.
So, all of this I think some people would qualify as "drum and bass" depending on how loose their definition is. I just kinda interchangeably call it all "jungle" or "hardcore" depending on how much the song has going on and my mood. But genre names are dumb, label names I find tend to be more accurate a description at the expense of asking the listener for more legwork.
If you'd like some Proper Jungle, but produced recently, Tim Reaper has been spitting fire for some years now. He's also very prolific, so there's plenty to dig and find. Future Retro is a label he runs IIRC, and he does tons of collabs here. Track 3 is my fave on this release but this release, and basically everything on here I've heard, is sick.

Pete Cannon is another new producer that's been doing all kinds of crazy shit. If you don't mind some screen flashing, he has a youtube channel where he'll show all the old derelict electronics that he makes tunes with, and that people would use back in the day. His output ranges between Jungle and Hardcore (, the breakbeat kind, but not "breakbeat hardcore"... just think "hardcore" if you hear a piano, ok?), and usually smashes it with most of his stuff. Some of his earlier work is now available digitally over at kniteforce, like this one:

Kniteforce has a TON of stuff, by the way. The previews are cropped very nicely and it's great to just parooze and listen to previews all day. They've been around since 1993 in some capacity or another and a fair bit of that, particularly stuff from the past five years or so, is very good. A few picks from there:
"What does 'hardcore' sound like anyway?" https://kniteforcerevolution.com/store/product/kniteforce-presents-legends-vs-legends-volume-1-digital
"No that sucks give me some jungle" They occasionally do represses/re-releases of old classics https://kniteforcerevolution.com/store/product/nutty-bass-ill-be-there-ep-digital
"No I want more rave stabs and it to be mixed" Can't rec this highly enough https://kniteforcerevolution.com/store/product/all-the-rave-1991-double-album-digital
If you like buying vinyl... well they're probably the best single place to look for vinyl releases that sound like this. But if you see the "we're helping friends sell this" note on a release, then that label probably has a bandcamp you can look up, sometimes with digital downloads available. The downside is, a lot of stuff in this sphere is vinyl only, which kinda sucks. But it keeps enough money flowing for more music to come out.
Unfortunately my knowledge is more looking for songs to mix rather than listening to mixes, so my knowledge of good mixes (that I didn't make for myself...) is limited. But I think the internet will pull up mixes for you if you search for artists nowadays. Pete Cannon and Tim Reaper both have some good'ns on youtube for sure.
